About
WORK

I am Aidan Jacketta, and this is my website.

A little about me,

I am currently attending American University for my master's in political communication. I aim to become a financial and environmental policy advisor working to address the world's pressing climate and economic issues. With experience spanning federal, private, academic, and international sectors, I am on the path towards a career in politics focused on supporting effective communication between the government and the public.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. And that is where my love of the great outdoors started, and why I am committed to fighting climate injustice and protecting our one and only planet. So if you ever need a hiking recommendation in Teton National Park, I have a list. Hopefully, you look through the rest of this website and find out where you can join me in the fight for a sustainable future.

Doing speech and debate in high school, specifically Congressional Debate and Lincoln-Douglas Debate, contributed greatly to my desire to attend college in Washington, D.C. and major in a field where I could bring transparency to politics.

But the most important thing to know about me is that I love bees.

I am a certified beekeeper and could tell you as many fun bee facts as you can handle.

My favorite bee is the Orange-belted bumblebee, beating out the other 19,999 (or so) species.

This ground-nesting pollinator is often seen in Wyoming, and with its distinct color, it is hard to miss. But if your bee search is unsuccessful, I would recommend eating a banana and drinking a beer on your hike, and you might just get swarmed.

Bee photography is a cause of both great distress and enjoyment in my life. There is nothing I enjoy taking photos of more than a bee on a flower. And thanks to their preference for purple, I have thousands of photos of them buzzing around lupines, lavender, and lilacs. Unfortunately, many of which are just as blurry as they are buzzy.

I even wrote my grad school personal statement on the connection between the survival of a superorganism bee colony and how effective political communication is essential to a thriving democracy.

I hope you enjoyed a sample of  my fun bee facts. I am always happy to share more.
